Whilst at University, one of my modules involves designing for five brands. As part of a competition I am designing for Australian brand and cousin to Abercrombie & Fitch, Gilly Hicks. Have a sneak peak:

Whilst finalizing my boards for this weeks deadline I couldn't help but wish I were back in the sunshine as Sydney is approaching it's summer!

All of the summer pictures used for my mood boards are making me miss my time there more than ever.... The fantastic way of life they have over there, the amazing people I met and just the bloody great times I had......

I will always be thankful for the opportunity to go over there, and would recommend to anyone thinking of doing a year in industry at university to do it without a second thought. It's hard to leave home at first but worth it in the end as you will love every second.

Have an amazing summer Sydney!
I MISS YOU!

Dissertation boredom.

Dissertation writing has to be one of the most soul destroying things... my attention span is that of a fish and my hand in is tomorrow... feel like i'm going nowhere..

So thought lets waste time writing about it and kill my boredom....

I think i'm just going to have to man up and:

THIS WILL BE DONE BY TOMORROW

Playing with print

So I know it's been a while since I posted on here.... sorry for being so terrible!
In the time that I have been away, I have had a year in industry abroad in Australia, which I was preparing to go on in some of my previous posts.

Since returning, I am now in my final year of university and to be honest, the work load is a bitch quite stressful. Take me back to Bondi Beach any day!

Anyhooo, here are a few snaps of some print ideas for one of my modules this year, using tulips as inspiration. Imagine one of these babies on a summer dress or pair of your favourite pants... delicious.

Big bottom girls!

As I am a fan of costume for inspiration, I love this picture as it reminds me of a bustle with a modern twist.
If I could pull this off then I would definitely be wearing it. BIG FAN!

It's all about the Nookie ;)

I thought I would let you all into a sneak peak of the company I will be working with for 6 months. They are called Nookie, situated in Sydney and have womenswear and beachwear. I've added a few pictures for you to have a look at, let me know what you think of them! I have also added the link incase any of you wanted to go on their website to take a closer look.

The feel of the brand is about having a fresh take on life and not taking yourself too seriously. Think of festivals, road trips and dancing all night long.
Feeling sexy and making heads turn when you walk into a room.

The Big Move

With around two months to go it's getting closer and beginning to sink in that I am actually starting a new life in Sydney! I CANNOT WAIT. It's going to be a big shock to the system but if I don't go now.. I never will!

Bondi beach, 20 minutes away from my office... Hello lunch break!

Now who wouldn't want all this for 10 months? I am one lucky girl.

TRENCH COAT > DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED BY MYSELF

As one of my own personal projects I designed and made this trench coat myself.
I designed the coat to have a purple lining, welts and dogtooth buttons, which I also made myself using a laser cutter through plastic and CAD and CAM software.
These pictures show the final product.

A close up of the lining embroidered with a dogtooth outline on the back of the collar.

A close up of the detail on the front including the welts. The buckle was slightly too wide which I was disappointed with.

The under side of the band also has the purple lining to be in keeping with the rest of the coat.

I even made the belt loops and band around the cuff myself.
